ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS All previous Codes of Ethics and Medical Deontology are repealed, as well as any previous statements that are contrary to the present Code. FINAL PROVISIONS 1. A doctor who acts under the protection of State Laws cannot be penalized deontologically. 2. The declarations of the Comisión Central de Deontología [Central Deontology Commission] approved by the Asamblea General del Consejo [General Assembly of the Council] have the same binding character as the precepts contained in this Code. 3. It is the duty of the Spanish General Medical Council to undertake the necessary initiatives to update this Code. 4. The fact that a medical conduct has been declared exempt from liability in court will not prevent it from being subsequently prosecuted by the competent deontological jurisdiction. 5.
