_66 CODE OF MEDICAL DEONTOLOGY - Article 66 Genital mutilation is contrary to the dignity of a person and ethically reprehensible. Article 67.1 A doctor must respect both the sexual orientation and the gender identity of their patients, and these must never be a reason for discrimination or rejection. Article 67.2 Medical care aimed at supporting sexual orientation, gender identity, and fertility must be respectful and seek the greatest benefit of the patient. Article 68.1 In the treatment of minors and adolescents regarding gender transition, expert doctors with the appropriate skills will always intervene, together with multidisciplinary committees. They will consider the minor's best interest and the irreversibility of the procedure to be carried out. Article 68.2 A doctor must participate in the detection and eradication of abuse and sexual and gender violence, knowing the protocols and collaborating in the protection of victims with social and legal services. This will be especially required in vulnerable patients, such as minors, people with special needs associated with disability, pregnant women, the elderly and dependent people.
