XVII 69_ CODE OF MEDICAL DEONTOLOGY - MEDICAL RESEARCH INVOLVING HUMAN SUBJECTS Article 70.1 Medical research must be at the service of humanity in order to find answers to health problems and apply its achievements to all human beings as soon as possible. Article 70.2 Medical research must respect the dignity and safety of the person, which must prevail over public or private, economic or knowledge interests. Article 70.3 The explicit consent of the research subject or their representatives must always be obtained, after being informed on, at least, the nature and purpose of the research, the objectives, methods, expected benefits, as well as the potential risks and discomforts that their participation may cause, and the sources of funding. The subject must also be informed of their right not to participate or withdraw freely from the investigation without being harmed at any time. 17
